
Sarah Cant is an American milliner and textile artist based in England. She completed a PhD in French Literature at Oxford, before training in millinery at Kensington and Chelsea College. Since then she has been steadily building a reputation with her striking and unusual style.
She is part of the innovative Studio Seven textile artists, as well as a member of both the Gloucestershire and Devon Guilds of Craftsmen. She has exhibited her work at Origin, The Chelsea Craft Fair, London Fashion Week, The Designer Wedding Show, Lustre, Hereford Contemporary Craft, and The Contemporary Craft Fair at Bovey Tracey. Her pieces feature in the international fashion press as well as in craft galleries throughout the U.K.
Sarah is the Course Leader for the HNC in Millinery at Kensington and Chelsea College and teaches regular short courses at West Dean College.
In 2005, She was awarded the top three prizes in The Hat Designer of the Year Competition. A hat of Sarah's, inspired by the architecture of Peter Jones, was used to promote the opening of the store's central atrium in 2002.
Alongside developing her millinery business, Sarah creates textile jewellery, mixed-media textiles, and works in costume design for theatre, circus and dance. She designed the signature headdresses for Tropicana, from performance collective shunt, Dig Deep, choreographed by Abby Bender for Kick|Stand|Dance at Triskelion Arts, New York, and the hats for 2006 West End production of Sunday in the Park with George.
