Sarah specialises in making one-of-a-kind individual designs which offer the wearer a truly unique look. Her work combines traditional millinery techniques with innovative designs and unconventional materials such as paper and veneer. The style is both quirky and feminine, with an emphasis on strong, elegant shapes which flatter the face. All of the pieces are handmade by the designer.
They explore the natural qualities of the chosen materials - straw, paper, felt, feather and wood. Through her fluid, organic shapes, Sarah develops a strong visual language of movement, curve and texture. The pieces range from hats to cocktail hats and headpieces. The shapes and materials are undeniably modern; the style witty and nostalgic. She also makes textile jewellery which complement the millinery ranges and has recently started creating mixed-media textile art.
