Alongside her one-off pieces, Sarah specialises in working to commission. When creating a hat for a specific client, often for a specific occasion, she aims to capture the energy and character of the wearer in a way that is only possible with a commission.

The process may begin by looking at existing pieces, but it is never a case of re-creating or modifying a previous design. Instead, Sarah starts from scratch with each commission, working closely with the client to refine the design into one which perfectly matches expectations. It is this understanding of the client, the outfit, the occasion, and most importantly, how the client wants to look and feel on the day which is integral to the process.

Weddings make up much of Sarah's commissions. From mother of the bride or groom to the bride, bridesmaids and flower girls, from a single commission to a wedding package - the commission process is always one of finding the perfect design for the day. By making hats, headpieces and hair accessories for the whole wedding party, she can develop a mini-collection which unifies and completes the look of the occasion.
